Wonderful Chair

I purchased two of these Andironack chairs from Denny and Kathy's Super Store, who shipped them very fast. The chairs arrived in perfect condition and I had absolutely no problems in assembling them. The directions are very easy to read and understand, and I had both chairs put together and ready to use in about an hour and 10 minutes, working on them by myself (the wood they are made of smells great too!). They look super out on the patio and are very sturdy. My wife stained them and finished with a couple of coats of outdoor polyurathane. We highly recommend these chairs to anyone looking for a sturdy, high quality Andironack chair for the patio or yard, for not a lot of money!

I discovered this lovely looking wood Adirondack chair at my local Ace Hardware and immediately loved the look and comfort of it. I was tempted to buy the companion ottoman but didn't have the space on my rather narrow deck for both. The design and comfort is classic Adirondack with a particularly neat twist; you can fold it as well! I hadn't realized that when I purchased it, but what a nice bonus. The fir wood has a wonderful aromatic smell to it and it seemed a shame to have to stain and seal it, but contrary to what is said here fir is NOT rot or insect resistant so staining and sealing is a must and a regular maintenance issue in order to keep it attractive and to extend it's life. The parts were fairly well marked and easy to sort out. The assembly sheet was fairly easy to figure out and most every part had small pilot holes to indicate where to put the screws. You could use a power drill but to me that seemed like using a flamethrower to kill a mosquito. You can easily get by with just a Philips head screw driver, although I once had to resort to the power drill and immediately regretted it as it's just simply overkill. Once assembled the chair folds quite easily and that's a delight for moving it from the deck to the front porch, down to the garage, and even inside for additional seating with a cushion. The weight is also delightfully low as fir is not terribly dense. The hardware is quite substantial, not your typical cheap Chinese made crap that breaks under stress and the chairs hold up well for guys weighing in at nearly 200 lbs. I'm thinking these will hold up well if properly maintained and so far am just thrilled with them!

Some commenters thought the chairs were a little small. The distance between the arms is 18 3/4 inch at the front and 21 inches further back. My wife and I find them to be the perfect size.We ordered 2 and they went together easily. If you get to a point where something doesn't line up quite right, you might have installed something backwards in a previous step. I did that a couple of times, but it was easily fixed.They are comfortable and seem well made. The instructions seemed reasonably clear.I've ordered a pair for my son.
